About Jama Masjid

The construction of Jama Masjid, towards the north-west of Hussainabad Imamabara, was started during the reign of Mohammed Ali Shah in the year 1832, but was completed after his death by his wife, Begum Malika Jahan. The place is full of beautiful Italian art which was famous during the time in Lucknow and it reflects the Mughal style of architecture. Though tourists and outsiders are not allowed to enter the mosque, this is a perfect place to admire the magnificent architecture and the mosque looks Majestic with its two minarets. Make sure to remove your shoes before entering the courtyard or complex, as it is a holy place.
